Dixons Carphone Share Price Forecast

The shares of Dixons Carphone PLC (LON: DC), the UK’s largest mobile phone retailer, plunged over 10% in early morning trading on Thursday after the company warned that full-year profits will be substantially below expectations. Dixons Carphone said that it now expects to report an adjusted operating profit of between £360 million and £440 million for the year ending 30 April 2018, down from its previous guidance of £501 million. The company blamed “a number of one-off factors” for the disappointing performance, including weaker than expected demand for mobile phones in the UK and Ireland.

Investors were clearly spooked by the news, with Dixons Carphone’s share price falling as much as 10.4% to 183.8p in early morning trading on Thursday. That marks a new 52-week low for the stock, which has now lost more than half its value since peaking at 387p back in June 2015. At the time of writing, Dixons Carphone’s share price was down 9.6% at 185p.
